When doing an upgrade to IBM i, it is more work to plan the upgrade, than to perform the upgrade itself. Once you have a plan, the actual upgrade is simple.

Answer key questions like these:

What is the right size for the load source?
How do I increase the licensed internal code?
Which version of Java is compatible with the new release?
Which console options are no longer available with 7.3?

Do I have the correct set of disks for the upgrade?
What do I need to do differently when upgrading from 6.1, 7.1, or 7.2?

Joe Zumbo has been around the IBM i for at least 7 different brand names.  He has been a Project Leader, Systems Administrator and Engineer, Network Manager, and IT Director – but always surrounded by the sturdy i.    Joe has worked with the midrange platform with great Middle Tennessee Organizations like Geodis (aka Ozburn Hessey Logistics), Community Health Systems, and Western Express (aka Proline Carriers).   Joe has been personally involved in over a dozen Operating System Upgrades and worked on systems as small as a single LPAR on a single machine up to supporting over 150 boxes.   He has led efforts to modernize his clients and employers with the latest DR and High Availability solutions, Software Release and Deploy Strategies, and always done so what appeasing the endless auditor inquiries we all endure.    Joe enjoys rebuilding and riding motorcycles, being a husband and father, music, and being a part of the IBM i field.

Terry Paone  (Director of Technology Enterprise Solutions Division of Genisys Group, Inc.)  will also be present and will share real world information obtained from his numerous IBM i OS upgrades, including to V7R3.
